Women who are my heroes in the creative industry? View a collection of the ones I have gathered over the years.
Rocking it still today?
Designboom has been around since 1999. Birgit launched it just a year after us. It has been striving and gathering not only quality content but a large readership as well. Its appreciation keeps on growing.
Well deserved too imo.

Netdiver magazineA strange kind of physical reality
A long-form generative art project coming to fxhash in partnership with FAB DAO on 11th Jan 2024.
This series is inspired, in the abstract, by the images I visualise when reading about quantum theory. Particularly thoughts of particles spreading out as waves and then collapsing into particles again at a moment of interaction. At the quantum scale, classical ideas of space and form come apart, replaced by concepts, probability and mathematics. Yet I cannot help but imagine tiny structures. There are moments when it feels like, if I concentrated closely enough or reached out in just the right way,...

Dalibor FarnýBismuth Crystal Puzzle and the Matrix Cut
The Bismuth Crystal Puzzle is the successor to our popular Geode and Agate puzzles; the next in our growing line of unique geological puzzles. It is a one-of-a-kind jigsaw puzzle inspired by the remarkable geometric patterns found in bismuth crystals. Each puzzle is uniquely generated through a computer simulation, mimicking natural variations in shape and design. It features a new cut style we’re calling Matrix, a geometric cut reflecting the puzzle’s crystalline nature. There are two sizes available in our shop now: the Bismuth Crystal Puzzle ($60, ~157 pieces) and the Big Bismuth Crystal Puzzle ($85, ~267 pieces).
The puzzle...
Nervous SystemReaction Jewelry
https://player.vimeo.com/video/877208744?dnt=1
Someone asked us to make Reaction-diffusion wedding bands, we liked the resulting rings so much we decided to make an entire Reaction jewelry collection! From Möbius strip rings to seashell-like earrings, each piece is intricately embossed with intertwining patterns of ridges and valleys that create a unique experience that is both visual and tactile. The designs are grown through a computer simulation of reaction-diffusion, a chemical patterning mechanism observed in a myriad of biological systems, from animal skin patterns to slime molds. The pieces are 3D printed in stainless steel, silver, and brass. Pre-order now for shipping in the end...
Nervous SystemCorollaria Gyroid for Albany Airport
https://player.vimeo.com/video/876022137
Nervous System photographed by Rebecca Miller
Corollaria Gyroid is a sculpture created by Nervous System for the Albany International Airport which explores the connections between mathematics and the natural world, highlighting the presence of mathematical principles in biological structures. Measuring almost 7 feet in diameter, it is made up of 121 flat aluminum panels connected by 1789 rivets into an undulating surface perforated by morphing cellular patterns. The surface represented is a gyroid, a minimal surface discovered in 1968 by Alan Schoen at NASA as a purely mathematical invention but which was later found in natural structures such as the scales...

Sou Fujimoto – Reja (the Cloud), 2013, installation view, The National Gallery of Arts, Tirana, Albania, photo: Public Delivery
Reja is one of the most popular public works installed in Albania. Reja was designed by well-known and celebrated Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto. It is now installed at Tirana at the Gallery of Arts. Tirana was the second city to host the masterpiece after London hosted it first1.
Also commonly referred to as The Cloud, the construction is inspired by organic shapes that are naturally found in the environment. The artwork is highly accessible and interactive. It’s designed to be climbed and explored...
