TinyCard Game Maker 2

This is an updated version of TinyCard, a simple text game maker to allow children to create short adventure games, interactive stories, surveys, or quizzes:

The TinyCard text game maker based on a 160x128 colour TFT display
and an ATtiny3224.

Two features that users of the original version of TinyCard Game Maker requested were: the ability to make games with a random element, and the ability to keep a score and display its value. This update addresses these requests:

Shocking disclosure, 20 volts to be exact

Hey everyone, we’d like to make a public disclosure to the community about a product currently selling on the PineStore website (pine64.com).

The current Desktop PinePower V2 batch has an issue where in some situations the USB-C ports will report “0V” when there is obviously something attached. In reality it is actually outputting the correct voltage.

This has been fixed for future batches, but the current batch still has stock available. There is no fix available for affected Desktop PinePower V2 batches as the MCU can only be flashed at the factory. We have no ETA when the fixed batch will start...

HomePod mini feels like magic, but it's just good timing

Apple introduced the HomePod mini six years ago, in 2020.

I'm not one into smart speakers, but the feature that made me take a closer look was their ability to form stereo pairs, without any direct wired connection.

I know there are other speaker manufacturers with wireless speakers, but to my knowledge, Apple was just using AirPlay over WiFi... so how does it work?

This is an updated version of my Universal TFT Display Backpack, a microcontroller board based on an ATtiny814 that can accommodate a range of different Adafruit and AliExpress colour TFT displays:

SBC Clusters are a terrible value, but they're fun anyway

Pictured above is the new DeskPi Super4C installed in an 8U mini rack. The Super4C is a 4-node Raspberry Pi CM5 cluster board that solves two pain points I had with the older Super6C.

I was testing this board around the same time I helped kick off the SBCC 2026, the Single Board Cluster Competition for students. A dozen or so university teams squared off to run the best mini HPC cluster with a budget of $6,000, and a couple days to benchmark six HPC workloads.

Взглянув чуть более внимательно на изготовление электронных ламп — нехитрых в сущности приборов, с прискорбием выясняется неутешительное — нагрев и пониженное давление превращают привычные, казалось бы, надёжные и незыблемые материалы, натурально, в предателей и прохвостов, так и норовящих подложить свинью и испортить лампу [1]. И только последовательная тщательная и большая подготовительная с ними работа и длительное маринование электровакуумных приборов (ЭВП) на откачном посту заставляет внутренние металлы, стекло, слюду ламп держаться приличий. Если подготовка и очистка, дело неизбежное, то длительную (иногда до суток и более!) откачку ламп на громоздком, сложном, дорогом и энергоёмком оборудовании позволил фантастически сократить некрупный специальный элемент внутри колбы прибора — газопоглотитель, иначе — геттер.
