Raspberry Pi Introduces 3GB Pi 4 Amid Price Increases

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced a new 3GB variant of the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, priced at $83.75, alongside a set of price increases affecting multiple products across its lineup. The changes are attributed to a sharp rise in LPDDR4 memory costs, which the company reports have increased seven-fold over the past year. […]

Entry-level Intel Core 3 304 Wildcat Lake processor details and benchmarks surface

Intel discreetly introduced the Wildcat Lake Core Series 3 CPUs at CES 2026 with some high-level specifications, but no part numbers or exact CPU, GPU, and NPU frequencies. Some leaks reveal more details about the Wildcat Lake parts, notably the Intel Core 3 304 penta-core processor, for which we also have some benchmarks. Intel Wildcat Lake SKUs The data below comes from a post by Jaykihn on X. While we have six SKUs in the table above, the Intel Core 5 320/330 and Core 7 350/360 only differ in terms of SIPP (Intel Stable IT Platform Program) support. SIPP is...

DRAM pricing is killing the hobbyist SBC market

Today Raspberry Pi announced more price increases for all Pis with LPDDR4 RAM, alongside a 'right-sized' 3GB RAM Pi 4 for $83.75.

The price increases bring the 16GB Pi 5 up to $299.99.

Despite today's date, this is not a joke.

I published a video going over the state of the hobbyist 'high end SBC' market (4/8/16 GB models in the current generation), which I'll embed below:

But if you'd like the tl;dr:

Raspberry Pi 4 3GB launched for $83.75, further price increases announced across the board for 4GB+ RAM hardware

This may sound like an April Fool’s joke, but the Raspberry Pi 4 with 3GB RAM is real and now offered for $83.75. Raspberry Pi also announced another round of price increase for Raspberry Pi 4/5/CM4/CM5 due to a “seven-fold increase over the last year in the price of [the] LPDDR4 DRAM“. As far as I know, 3GB LPDDR4 chips do NOT exist or are very rare, so the new SBC likely relies on the Raspberry Pi 4 dual RAM PCB variant introduced last month, and features two 1.5GB LPDDR4 chips for a total of 3GB of RAM. Apart from...

Name that Ware, March 2026

The Ware for March 2026 is below:

This ware malfunctioned, so I took it apart to see what’s going on and now it’s this month’s Name that Ware. As it would be far too easy to guess if I showed the whole circuit board, this is just a portion of the whole ware. I suspect the nature of the ware will be easy to figure out, but would be impressed if anyone can determine the exact make & model, since these are likely OEM’d by a handful of factories and the same core design is shared among a wide family of...
